Eye Examinations | Eye Tests at Raxworthy Visioncare Christchurch

At Raxworthy Visioncare we take a personal approach to your eyecare. Our optometrists take the time to understand your individual sight requirements, as such we know many of our clients on first name basis and have forged lifelong friendships with them.

Regular eye examinations are the best way to detect eye health problems such as diabetes, cataracts and glaucoma. They could also uncover serious general health problems such as high blood pressure, high cholesterol, tumours, autoimmune disorders and even multiple sclerosis.

It is worth remembering that early detection of any disease can lead to a better outcome with treatment and prevent vision loss. The College of Optometrists recommends an examination every 2 years regardless of whether or not you wear glasses.

Comprehensive Eye Examinations

We will take a detailed history, check your vision and determine your prescription. We are constantly investing in the very latest ophthalmic technology to provide the best level of eye care, as such our Comprehensive Eye Examination is inclusive of both 3D OCT retinal imaging and digital retinal photography. Providing these state of the art, digitally enhanced techniques, we feel that your eye care could not be more comprehensive.

Extended NHS Eye Examinations

At Raxworthys we have recently invested in equipment to do so much more than the standard NHS eye test. We are delighted to be able to offer all of our NHS patients the option to upgrade their eye test to a more comprehensive examination. For a more detailed view of the retina and the added advantage of a permanent record of the back of the eye that can always be referred back to we are proud to offer OCT retinal imaging and digital retinal photography. Providing these digitally enhanced techniques and spending more time with you, we feel that your eye care could not be in better hands.

Our Comprehensive and Extended NHS Eye Examinations are a minimum of 40 minutes and include 3D OCT retinal imaging and digital retinal photography as we feel these are important parts of patient care. We will thoroughly examine the health of your eyes, determine your prescription and take the time to explain things in plain English.

We also provide basic NHS sight tests, (no charge to eligible clients – see list below) however all our optometrists recommend the enhanced NHS Eye Examination as we believe that whatever your eligibility you should have the most comprehensive examination available so we can provide you with the most appropriate care and recommendations by spending an extended time with you.
